Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) Intensives
EVIDENCE-BASED MIND-BODY TREATMENT FOR CHRONIC PAIN AND OTHER CHRONIC SYMPTOMS
What are PRT Intensives for Chronic Pain?
Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) Intensives offer an in-depth and accelerated approach to treating chronic pain by reshaping your brain's pain response and transforming pain-related fears and beliefs. Rather than attending weekly sessions, PRT Intensives occur over 1 - 3 days, allowing for more focused, in-depth work and faster progress. Whether you're brand new to PRT or are already familiar with the approach, our intensives are designed to provide a transformative experience that builds confidence and equips you with powerful tools for long-term pain relief.
How Do Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) Intensives Work?
Prior to your Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) Intensive, you'll meet with your therapist or coach for a Pre-Intensive Interview to discuss your specific goals and what you hope to achieve. This is also a chance to learn more about you—including your experiences with chronic pain and other important aspects of your life.
During your intensive, you'll deep-dive into PRT, discovering practical tools and strategies to help your brain process and reinterpret pain signals in a new way. Your intensive will also include opportunities to explore nervous system regulation techniques and restorative practices such as guided meditation, breathwork, gentle movement and therapeutic writing. These practices are key components in chronic pain recovery, helping to reestablish connection to your mind, body and emotions in a gentle, supportive way.
A few weeks after your intensive, you'll reconnect with your therapist or coach for a Post-Intensive Interview. This session gives you the opportunity to process your experience, discuss key breakthroughs, and address any thoughts or questions that have emerged since your intensive. Most importantly, it's a chance to celebrate you and the growth you've achieved through your intensive journey.

Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) Intensive FAQs
-
We currently offer PRT Intensives virtually, allowing you to join from home or another private, comfortable space.
-
PRT Therapy Intensives are currently available to clients in California and Colorado. PRT Coaching Intensives are available to clients worldwide.
-
PRT Therapy Intensives and PRT Coaching Intensives both focus on learning and applying all aspects of the PRT framework, but do have some notable differences. PRT Therapy Intensives are led by a licensed therapist and may offer a broader scope of psychological support for addressing mental and behavioral health challenges related to chronic pain. Additionally, PRT Therapy Intensives may incorporate other psychotherapeutic approaches that can only be offered by licensed mental health professionals. Due to licensure restrictions, PRT Therapy Intensives are currently available to clients located in California and Colorado.
PRT Coaching Intensives are facilitated by a qualified pain coach. Coaching intensives are goal-driven and typically emphasize the learning of PRT-based tools, strategies and pain-education. PRT Coaching Intensives are not a mental health service and no mental health diagnosis is given nor treated as a part of the process. High risk needs or concerns are not an appropriate fit for coaching intensives, and in these cases a referral will be provided to a licensed mental health professional in your area.
If you have further questions about the differences between PRT therapy intensives and PRT coaching intensives, feel free to reach out to us via email or discuss any additional questions during your consult call.

We often describe PRT Intensives as being like a personal therapeutic retreat. With that, it’s best to allow time outside of session on your intensive days to be focused on restful and restorative activities as much as possible. Leave the work, chores and to do lists for another day!
